The Antimins was consecrated in honor of Mother of God, the same name as former Cathedral in Shanghai. In August 2003, entertainment businesses in two former Orthodox church buildings of St Nicholas Church and the former Shanghai Cathedral of the "Surety of Sinners" Icon of the Theokotos, were to be evicted from the premise after securing assurance from the Chinese Ambassador to Russia and are now emptied. From May to December 2010 divine services are held weekly at the former St Nicholas Church for Shanghai EXPO visitors.
