Orthodox Churches in Xinjiang-Uighur Autonomous Region

On February 10, 1935, Archimandrite Yuvenaly was consecrated in St Nicholas Cathedral in Harbin as Bishop of Xinjiang and appointed to reside in Urumqi. Due to difficulties in traveling with the Japanese occupation in Manchuria, Vladika remained the abbot of the Kazan Mother of God Monastery in Harbin.
