A new book about Orthodoxy in China was published in Hong Kong

"Metropolitan Innocent (Figurovsky) of Beijing", a monograph by the Krasnoyarsk scholar, sinologist VG Datsyshen, continues the series of publications devoted to the study of the history of Orthodoxy in China. Published by Hong Kong's Sts. Peter and Paul parish to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the blessed repose of Metropolitan Innocent of Beijing, this book is devoted to the head of the 18th Beijing mission, Metropolitan Innocent.

The historical period described in the book covers a number of important 20th century milestones -- the "Boxer" uprising, the Russian-Japanese war, the Xinhai Revolution, World War I, the 1917 Russian Revolution. This paper investigates various aspects of Russian-Chinese relations and the initial period of the Russian emigration to China. According to the well-known proverb, history is made by personalities. Among these, of course, is Metropolitan Innokenty (Figurovsky), who was one of the most prominent Orthodox bishops of the 20th century.
