Another Orthodox temple
on Russian-Chinese border

Birobidzhan. September 22nd. INTERFAX - On Thursday in the Lenin Village in the Jewish Autonomous Region on s border with China the cornerstone of the Holy Archangel Michael Orthodox temple was laid, "Interfax" was informed by the region's government.

At the foundation, a prayer service was conducted by Metropolitan Yuvenaly of Krutitsk and Kolomna who had arrived in the area earlier on September 19th to participate in consecrating the Annunciation cathedral in Birobidzhan.

Before October Revolution, Lenin Village was a Cossack village Miknailo-Semyonov. It had an Orthodox temple of Archangel Michael which has been destroyed in Soviet times, and the village was renamed.

Within the Jewish Autonomous Region churches are now also being built in the city of Obluchye and in the villages Amurzet and Budukan.
