St Nicholas Garrison Church in Port Arthur

This church was located at the Russian garrison in Port Arthur, Dalny, Kwantung Leased Territory.

This church was where the wonder-working Port Arthur Icon of the Mother of God was to have been delivered.

Prior to the conclusion of the Russo-Japanese War, the church building was wrecked by Japanese shells. With the floor, roof and ceilings still showing the marks, it was furnished with looted items and given to the YMCA and organized by Japanese Christians in the furtherance of their evangelistic zeal according to Rev. J.G. Dunlop, Among the Soldiers in Manchuria, "The Interior", Vol. 36, No. 1845, Oct 5, 1905, pg 1250 and Port Arthur and Dalny a year after the War, "The Missionary Review of the World", Vol. 20, No. 2, Feb 1907, pp 96-97
