Mao Delu was ordained as Deacon Falalei (Thalalæus in Greek) in autumn of 1950 by Archbishop Victor (Sviatin) and later elevated to dignity of protodeacon.

Fr Protodeacon Falalei served in Beijing and suffered imprisonment during the Cultural Revolution.
