On August 29, 2011, on the holiday celebrating the Port Arthur Icon of the Mother of God, also called "The Feast of the Most Holy Theotokos," Fr. Sergei Voronin, priest-in-charge of the Dormition Church in Beijing, conducted a prayer service with an Akathist and a memorial service for compatriots - defenders and residents of Port Arthur.
Present at the service, which took place in St. Vladimir's Chapel at the Russian cemetery in Port Arthur (modern Lüshun), were S.N. Podberezko, Consul General of Russia in Shenyang, and his wife.
