The report of Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, Chairman of the Department of External Church Relations, on the restoration work of the parish in honor of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the Hong Kong (Xianggang) Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

Background information:

By decree number 37 of July 10, 1934 of the head of the Russian Spiritual Mission in China, Bishop Victor of Beijing, a house temple was opened in Hong Kong in honor of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul Church, and the Hong Kong deanery was formed; it was comprised of the temples in Guangzhou, Aomen (Macau) and Manila. In 1945, the Hong Kong deanery was included in the Beijing Diocese of the East Asian Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. In 1970 the parish's activities were suspended due to the death of its long-time pastor, Archpriest Dimitry Uspensky.

At present, the Orthodox Brotherhood of the Apostles Peter and Paul is active in Hong Kong; it consists of Orthodox compatriots in the Hong Kong (Xianggang) Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

RESOLVED:
  1. To reactivate the parish in honor of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the Hong Kong (Xianggang) Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
  2. To appoint a staff member of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archpriest Dionisy Pozdnyaev, as the rector.
