Moscow, February 11, Interfax - Bishop Daniil of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and the Kuriles considers spiritual assimilation of migrants coming to the region possible on the understanding that they know the history of Russia and its religious culture.
"If those migrants understand what historical and cultural background makes us take one decision or another, they could assimilate. They will become closer to us and remain Chinese only by blood," said Bishop Daniil to Interfax-Religion Monday.
According to Bishop Daniil, migrants should know not only modern Russian culture, but also the culture that was forming our state for centuries, "they should know our historical heroes and our saints".
Bishop Daniil told that there is an association of Korean Orthodox believers set up in Sakhalin. One young Chinese whose father is a high-ranking officer the Chinese People's Army has adopted Orthodox religion recently. Bishop Daniil thinks "this speaks for itself".
