The Shanghai Convent of the Vladimir icon of the Most Holy Theotokos and the orphanage named "Olginsky", in memory of the Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna - the daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, was founded in 1935 as a dependency of the Harbin Convent of the same namesake. It was located in the French Concession of Shanghai at 350, Avenue du Roi Albert.
After the monastic community immigrated in 1949 and eventually settled in San Francisco, this building was continued to be used as a communal residential apartment at 350, Shaanxi Road South (Shǎnxī nánlù).
