Methodius (Gerasimov Mavriky Lvovich), Metropolitan of Harbin. He was born on February 22, 1856 in a family of a priest from Tomsk Diocese. He graduated from the Tomsk Spiritual Seminary. In 1878, he enrolled at the Kazan Spiritual Academy, from which he graduated in 1882. On December 23 the same year, he joined the Altai Mission as a church singer. On September 26, 1885, he was tonsured as a monk; On November 10, he was proclaimed a deacon and on December 22 a hieromonk when he was also conferred the duty of coordinator of the Altay Missionary Catechetic School. On January 30, 1892, he received a Ph.D. in Theology. On May 16, 1894, he was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite, and on July 16 he was appointed Head of the Altai Mission. On June 2, 1894, he was consecrated a Bishop of Biysk, Vicar of Tomsk Diocese. The consecration was performed in Tomsk. The rite of consecration was performed by Bishop Macarius of Tomsk and Bishop of Tambov among others. Has ended the Tomsk theological seminary. From 24 December 1898 - Bishop of Trans-Baikal and Nerchinsk. From 20 December 1912 - Bishop of Tomsk and Altai. From 30 July 1914 - Bishop of Orenburg and Turgaysk. From 1918 - on Pascha he was elevated to the rank of Archbishop. At the beginning of 1919 emigrated abroad. From 1920 - Archbishop of Harbin. In 1929 he was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan. He reposed in 1931.
