Fr Anthony Yao was an Albazinian, born in Beijing. He was a nephew of the last Chinese hierarch - Bishop Vasily. Fr Anthony served as the ninth and last rector of the Holy Annunciation Church in Harbin and endured sufferings during the Cultural Revolution.
According to the "Religious History", No. 7, Chapter One, Section Two Religious Activities, shortly after the Chinese Orthodox Church was granted autonomy in Beijing in the autumn of 1956 with jurisdiction over all Orthodox churches in China, Fr. Yao Baoshun was appointed rector of the church in Yakeshi.
