Day of the Russian language dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory Day and the anniversary of Chekhov's, opened in Hong Kong

Day of the Russian language, organized in Hong Kong by Orthodox parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and the Center of the Russian language in Hong Kong, opened today at the club, "Helena May". Honorary guest of the Russian language were Mr. Sergey N. Gritsay, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Hong Kong and Macau and Mr. Zhoshykhan Kyraubayev, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong. Representatives of the Russian Centre in Macau have also taken part in the celebration.

Opening the festival, the parish priest of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Hong Kong, Fr Dionisy Pozdnyaev noted that the Day of the Russian language in Hong Kong is becoming an annual tradition and an event not only for Russian-speaking community, but also for all inhabitants of the city, studying Russian language and interested in culture and history of Russia. This year, the first part of the day of the Russian language, with the participation of compatriots living in Hong Kong and Macau, is dedicated to 65-year anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War. The second half of the festival will be attended by foreigners studying Russian language in Hong Kong, is dedicated to a different anniversary date - the 150th anniversary of Anton Chekhov.
