The priest-in-charge of Holy Trinity parish in Melbourne, Priest Igor Filianovsky, who had been conducting Christmas worship services in Hong Kong, donated to Hong Kong's SS Peter and Paul parish an icon of the leaders of the apostles, Peter and Paul.

After the SS Peter and Paul temple was closed in 1972, parishioners relocated their temple's icon to Melbourne, where it has been ever since. As a sign of their connection to the SS Peter and Paul parish in Hong Kong, which was closed following the death of the irreplaceable Archpriest Dmitry Uspensky in 1970, and which was re-activated in 2004, Melbourne's parishioners decided to return the temple icon of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul to Hong Kong
